Earth Matters reflects on 2021 and welcomes 2022

2021 was an eventful year for everyone, from the ongoing and long recovery from the COVID pandemic, to climate crisis developments, culminating with the promises made at COP26. Earth Matters is taking a moment to reflect on the positives of 2021, and how we have pivoted our strategy to meet the needs of our clients and partners in 2022.

Key 2021 client and team news

H.E RAZAN AL MUBARAK IS ELECTED AS NEW PRESIDENT OF IUCN

On Sept 8 2021, Earth Matters Consulting found out that our client H.E Razan Al Mubarak’s was elected as President of IUCN. We are very proud to have contributed to her campaign in an advisory capacity on climate change.

THE MANGROVE REHABILITATION PROJECT USING DRONE TECHNOLOGIES

The Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) partnered with our client, the global utility company ENGIE, for the 'Blue Carbon' Environmental and Social Responsibility project, using drone technology from Distant Imagery Solutions, to help rehabilitate areas of Abu Dhabi’s mangrove habitats. We are very proud to have facilitated this partnership for such an exciting project, and have been following the success story that has developed over the year.

Mangroves play a critical role in our fight against climate change. These carbon-rich forests that dot the coastline of Abu Dhabi is key to stabilising our environment and preserving the natural habitat of several species. The Blue Carbon project is one of its kind in the region and I’m delighted that it has advanced to Phase II, from its very successful pilot launch in 2020. Rebuilding and restoring an ecosystem that resiliently protects our coast will support the sustenance of mankind while combatting climate change.
— Her Excellency Dr. Shaikha Salem al Dhaheri – Secretary General Environmental Agency – Abu Dhabi
